Each year St. John Neumann participates in raising funds to make stoves which play an essential role in the health and sustenance of the native Guatemalans in San Lucas.

Fuel Efficient Stoves Will:

  • Reduce black smoke from fires
  • Reduce lung infections
  • Reduce burns and scalding accidents
  • Reduce air pollution
  • Reduce eye infections and vision loss
  • Keep fires out of living area
  • Provide flat cooking surface vs. cooking over rocks
  • Require less wood to burn
  • Require children to carry less wood
  • Allow women to stand while cooking
  • Provide jobs for young men
  • $250 will provide a new stove for a family!
