The Lord is coming, always coming. When you have ears to hear and eyes to see, you will recognize him at any moment of your life. Life is Advent; life is recognizing the coming of the Lord - Henri Nouwen

Week 4: 12/19/21

Advent is a season of pregnancy. It begins a new church year, which walks through the story of Jesus’ life. But when we begin, we don’t start with Jesus’ birth. We start by expecting. We start with conception—his coming as conceived by the prophets. Then, the fourth and final Sunday of Advent culminates with the sudden appearance of a celestial messenger to a Jewish girl, bearing the promise of a baby boy. This last Sunday belongs to Mary, and her story is the icon by which we learn to say yes to God.

Be encouraged by Fr. Josh's message to say, 'Yes', to the gift of joy even amidst the stresses of the holiday season.

Week 3: 12/12/21

John the Baptist is such an interesting character. He was mysterious and many people were perplexed by the way he lived his life. He wasn’t someone you would approach or go to if you wanted to be given an easy answer or to be flattered. He told the truth and pointed past himself and directed others to someone greater: Jesus.

During this season of Advent, it’s a key time to look beyond ourselves and straight to Jesus. How often are we really doing that? How can John’s life speak to me and transform me? What in my life can I put aside to grow in holiness?

Watch/listen to Fr. Tony tap into the life of John in this short advent reflection.

Week 2: 12/5/21

The challenge of entering Advent, or of entering into any religious experience, these days is that we are often very busy. We may feel bad that we don’t have time, but it is true, we just don’t have time. The result is that our experience of Advent is four Sunday Masses, which begin with lighting a new candle in the Advent wreath and the rest of it just passes around us, without any real effect.
How can we bring peace into our increasingly busy world's? How can we maximize the power of Advent in our lives? Fr. Josh offers a simple solution as he empathizes with the business and concerns of the holiday season.

Week 1: 11/28/21

The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and to the anniversary of Our Lord’s birth on Christmas.

In a world that glorifies the business, the noise, the constant 'doing'... Fr. Tony encourages us to this that moment to let peace into our lives, our family's, and our environments, and offers some teaching along the way as well.

Advent is a time where we are called to 'prepare the way for the Lord' in our hearts and to have that 'kairos' moment. Don't know what that is? Watch the video and find out.
